Guest Blog - Tyra and Andre in the trenches

Tyra Banks, one of my favorite celebrity/model/personalities, recently released this video about trench coats. She's joined by the uber-fabulous Andre Leon Talley. Sign me up for the entire series, please! I could watch these two talking about fashion (or about anything, really) for days on end.

Maybe I like St. Patrick's Day more than I thought

...Hello Kitty in green...so cute!!

...and a Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too!

OK OK ... March 17 is not high on my list of favorite holidays but I'm no kill-joy :) If you love it, have fun with it!! I don't do much to celebrate...I don't even wear green...but I do have green peppers in my lunch today, and as Martha S. points out, they look oh-so much like shamrocks!

For the love of...polo shirts

Refinery 29 has this fantastic post about how to wear polo shirts (one of the most beloved staples in my closet) without looking like you just game from a round of golf. Love.

And while we are on the subject, what do you think of the latest Lacoste ad campaign which seems to amp up the glamor factor of this garment?

The better half :)

...from the Sartorialist...who is fascinated by the tweed/ denim combo. Personally, I just love how these people look from the waist down. The shoes, the cuffed jeans...fab-u-lous.

To KJ...

The beach...even just images of it...for some reason, always brings a sense of calm and peacefulness to me. Perhaps this quite, little shell will provide the same for you.

Love you always

Grace....

I thought I might have to scan and post this fabulous article on the amazing Grace Coddington, and all that inspires her...thank you Vogue.com :) Love!

*And how much do you love her 'self-portrait' ?

Vivian Maier - An artist (and a story) for the ages

The story of Vivan Maier has to be one of the most miraculous and mysterious that I have heard in well, forever. This nanny-by-day was also a brilliant yet undiscovered street photographer from the 50's through the 90's. Her body of work includes over 100,000 (some undeveloped, some unprinted) black and white negatives which were discovered at an auction in Chicago.  John Maloof started this blog, to tell her story and display the beginnings of her work. It will leave you speechless. If you do one thing today, try to check out this link to a news story about Maier and the magnificent discovery Maloof has unearthed.

And a heartfelt thanks to the French Navy

I wish I could figure out how to inhabit this fantastic post from the Lonny blog, celebrating Breton style (to quote, "a nautical look that originated on the coast of France").

How can I resist giving this post the coveted...Ooh La La :) !

Guest Blog - Who's That Girl?

A female fashion designer, who's company has revenues similar to Michael Kors, recently gave this quote. After you read it, try to guess who said it. One hint: She's a celebrity.

"I put everything in the line and then it just blows out. We try not to set trends, but you need your trending pieces in every delivery. But those go fast: What you really need is your basics for every type of person. When it comes to other celebrity brands, I think a lot of people do a great job, but it can't be all about them. Everybody doesn't want to just look like the celebrity, because they can't. They just want one element of that style."

Any guesses? The answer is...  Jessica Simpson. That's right - Her clothing line is close to billion dollars in sales per year. That girl you thought was a big airhead grew up to be a fashion powerhouse. Well played, Jessica Simpson. Well played.

Guest Blog - XOXO: A documentary

My friends Nancy Schwartzman and Isaac Mathes are in the process of creating this wonderfully modern and romantic documentary about dating in the world of the world wide web. And I am totally in love with the fact that they're the first people I know to get their project 100% funded on Kickstarter. First, Kickstarter is awesome as it matches up cool projects with people who want to contribute to them but then, for someone to use a website like this to create something even more phenomenal really just blows me away. Congratulations, Nancy and Isaac. I can't wait to see the finished film!

For the 'prepster' in me

Fitness magazine had a great little piece on cool new fitness watches and while there were a bunch that do a ton...I have to admit, I really dig the super- preppy, ultra-cool look of this little lovely from Lacoste. So stylin!

Thinking summery thoughts

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of Birkenstocks...but these...well, I could not love them more if I tried. Moving to the top of the 'wish list' pronto!

Happy Pi Day :) - LCM

What are you doing to celebrate this day which commemorates the mathematical constant? How much do I love that I work at a place where this day is cause for celebration and a calendar full of events :)
And here's to all you kids (including everyone's favorite local producer, Chris...can you spot him in this pic?) working on the local film '3.14'...seriously, that's the title. Awesome.
