The story of Vivan Maier has to be one of the most miraculous and mysterious that I have heard in well, forever. This nanny-by-day was also a brilliant yet undiscovered street photographer from the 50's through the 90's. Her body of work includes over 100,000 (some undeveloped, some unprinted) black and white negatives which were discovered at an auction in Chicago. John Maloof started this blog, to tell her story and display the beginnings of her work. It will leave you speechless. If you do one thing today, try to check out this link to a news story about Maier and the magnificent discovery Maloof has unearthed. |
