Artistic Soft Spot

Of all the visual arts, I have always had a real admiration for photographers. Maybe it's because, at every stage of my life, another photographer enters. First there was my father...the dedicated amateur photographer who took beautiful pictures and was never without a camera in hand. Then there are 'Chris and Kris', my 2 good friends, who taught me so much about the masters and the fine art behind the craft. And then there is Joe (who just happens to be my brother-in-law). Not only is he incredibly prolific, taking hundreds of photographs for many years, his range is amazing. Whether he is photographing a grand scene in Colorado, a la Ansel Adams or the detail in the petals of a tiny flower, his ability to compose and to take moving photos is as good as I have seen. I've been living vicariously through his gorgeous photos since I've known him. Picking out a favorite or 2 of his pictures in next to impossible. There are just too many good ones...but these are 2 that I've always especially liked.

  2. This is so nice Kate, and I love the photos you posted. You are right it is hard to find a favorite probably any one of the beautiful sunsets in Key Largo. This is really going to make Joe's day, what a great compliment.

  3. Well, I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. Joe has a terrific eye ... and when you really start going through his photos you see it's impossible to pick a few images. There are so many. I really love these 2...Kelly is right about the 2nd one...it really has this a feeling of motion. It's brilliant!

  4. By the way, Lapapas...check out my last post in June. Key Largo...sunset...gorgeous. I don't know how he manages to do it because I have always said pictures can never do a Key Largo sunset justice. Joe manages to capture it.
