Collodion Prints
I am a huge fan of Collodion/Tintype photographs. According to the site devoted to 'Wet Plate Collodion Day', this photographic process involves pouring Collodion onto a plate of thin iron or glass, then exposing and developing that plate while it's still wet. This process was the primary photographic method from the early 1850s until the late 1880s. I am planning to attend an event at the Visual Studies Workshop where 2 local and devoted collodion artists turn our photos into one of these remarkable little pieces. The process is so involved but the final result is so rare and beautiful. A real lost art.
