Fortune Cookies

"Good news will come from far away." "Your hard work will pay off." "You are going to have a long, happy life." These are some of the fortunes I have saved up throughout the years. I have a habit of keeping all the "good" fortunes and as of late I'm even collecting the wacky ones. The ones where you wonder, "who wrote that?"......One day I hope to make a collage out of all the best ones. I have a jar where I keep them all safe and I even keep one inside a special owl locket. I'm starting a new adventure soon & I'm hoping it'll bring me good luck whenever I wear it. They're obviously silly, but I get to business when my Chinese meal is done. I lay out my napkin, have my tea handy, and get cracking! I love reading the simple phrases, many probably written by someone who doesn't speak great English (I imagine a Simpsons episode where Homer goes to work in a Fortune Cookie factory and he has to come up with his own lines). A lot of times I get recycled messages, but oh! when I hit the one where I am promised a happy future or good news.... I get excited and stash it into my wallet. It doesn't take much for me to get excited.

  1. Fortune cookies are such a treat. I can't think of a better way to end a meal. My favorite one I ever got said "You would make a good lawyer"...I got it days after I left law school :)
