60's Obsession
Since I was a teenager (and that is a good 30 years ago), I have been mesmerized by the music, fashion and cultural icons of the 60's. I was just reminded of this last night when I went to see the film Cheri (a pretty mediocre film starring Michelle Pfeiffer that does not really deserve attention on any blog). The only interesting aspect of this film was the casting of 60's icon Anita Pallenberg, in one of the smaller roles. With Pallenberg on my mind, I started to think about the other 'It" girls of that decade...Marianne Faithfull, Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and of course, Patti Boyd. Patti Boyd, who famously married Beatle George Harrison, then divorced him to marry his best friend, Eric Clapton was the ultimate rock-n-roll and fashion muse. I am not sure there was ever a cooler couple than George and Patti.

oh! i love patti boyd. i'm sure you're not a fan of clapton but i read his autobio a year or two ago and i actually found it to be very interesting...and i loved reading the parts about his obsession w/ her...and their whole relationship. i feel some sort of connection to her too on a different level (the whole child bearing thing)....anyway, great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a real Clapton fan but I did peruse his bio to read the parts that dealt with Patti Boyd. I agree...her relationship with these 2 men is fascinating.
